Varicose
Veins
The Goudarzi's are still on the cutting edge of technology with their
newest venture, The Vein and Laser Center of Wilmington. This
center offers care of any type of varicose veins, ranging from small
spider veins to larger veins measuring one centimeter in diameter.
These larger veins have traditionally been treated in the operating
room under general anesthesia, Now, at a fraction of the cost of
O.R.,
this procedure can be performed in an office setting. Currently, there are only about
50-100 centers across the United States and only 3-4 in North Carolina
offering laser ablation of varicose veins. With this procedure,
ultrasound guided laser energy is delivered intravenously via a thin
laser fiber which seals the vein shut, ultimately allowing them to
disappear. Spider veins often occur in combination with large varicose
veins as a result of increased vein pressure. Successful treatment of
spider veins, according to the Goudarzi's, depends upon the successful
treatment of the deep vein treatment as well. "It is important to cure
the cause," they explain. |
